Welcome to Vettes Of Coastal Maine
Vettes
Of Coastal Maine was organized in 1977 by Corvette enthusiasts for
Corvette enthusiasts. We are founding members of the New England
Corvette Council and actively participate with neighboring clubs in
Corvette activities throughout New England and with our Canadian
friends in the Maritime Provinces.
Membership continues
to grow and now stretches from the mid and south coast through the
Kennebec Valley and into Downeast Maine. All are welcome and our mix of
singles and couples, twenty something’s and retired brings diversity
and a full range of interests to all activities. We are primarily a
social organization, friends enjoying the company of other Corvette
enthusiasts. Naturally, we talk Corvettes a lot, and the mutual
interest provides a network for technical help, information on where to
find what you might need, sharing of resources and great car stories.
Our
cruising season begins early. A highlight of the cruising season is our
annual long weekend gathering of nearly 100 Corvettes of all
generations from Maine, neighboring states and provinces in beautiful
Bar Harbor in early June. The event features a Corvette display,
cruising the roads of Acadia National Park, visiting nearby villages
and of course eating, shopping and socializing. Bar Harbor also serves
as our major fund raising event for our charitable gift giving. Since
the club’s inception, thousands of dollars have been donated by the
club to charities throughout Maine. Like all Corvette
enthusiasts we like to travel together enjoying each others company on
long runs to "Corvettes at Carlisle" or on short trips to the nearest
cruise night. Summers are short but we take full advantage of every
spectacular day. Our winter activities include potluck suppers rotating
among different members’ homes (very popular!), restaurant
get-togethers sleigh rides, snow tubing, bowling, museum visits,
whatever makes the days pass until we can cruise again.
We're glad you could cruise on by the home of Vettes Of Coastal Maine. We hope you will join us soon. Save the Wave! |

April out and about

debbie writes " We would like to invite everyone for an out and about on April 5th, 2008. The club would meet at Starbucks in Freeport at 10 am and shop around town until noon. We can gather at the LL Beans front door and decide where we would like to have lunch; pizza at Antonia’s Pizzeria or Barbeque at Buck’s Naked BBQ? Then out for more shopping around town.
So, if you are up to some serious shopping or just milling around town and some yummy lunch, please join us next weekend in Freeport.

Mar-g writes "The next "out and about" dining will be Saturday, March 15th at the Ri Ra Irish Pub, 72 Commercial Street, Portland. VOCM has reservations for dining upstairs at 6 p.m. Ri Ra's was just rated by the Maine Sunday Telegram (3 stars) and advertise Irish and American fare -- vegetarian dishes too! Visit their website at www.rira.com and look at the Portland location for directions and menu.
Please call or e-mail me if you are planning to attend. I will have to give them a count a few days before. 445-5214 or mecowboy@roadrunner.com
I will be looking for an after dinner option--comedy club, movie, etc. and will update you soon!

Out and about at the China Dine-ah by Tina Thibodeau
Posted by webmaster on Thursday, January 31 @ 15:50:03 EST (131 reads)
debbie writes "Out and About: January 26, 2008 at the China Dine-ah in China Maine.
VOCM members and their guests enjoyed good food and fun conversation at the China Dine-ah located in China Maine.
VOCM Attendees included: Barry and Deb Shepard, Ron and Margie Roy, Marsha Lamont, Wil and Tina Thibodeau; along with guest John York, Ron and Pam Haney, Dan and Diane Bossert, Skip and Kathy Morrissete, Larry and Mary Constanzer; along with their 3 lovely children.
After the meal we met at the bowling alley for a fun time of rock and bowl candlepin bowling. It was decided that we would divide into three teams: Men, Women and team Constanzer. A fun time was had by all and we are in awe of Ron Roy's ability to bowl a good game, and his ability to continuely forgot to press the reset button for the pins. Not to worry though, Wilfred Thibodeau had Ron's back and was his official reset button setter. The ladies team was led by Kathy and Marci, hee, hee. Somehow the person entering the names entered Marci, instead of Marcia. A sub from team Constanzer was needed to help out on the Womens team when Margie Roy had a hopping mishap and hurt her ankle. Thanks to all who turned out. We hope everyone had a good time and we look forward to the next Out and About..... "
